We all have a history playing with many top artists not just in the reggae industry but also in genres of music from Gospel, Soul, Funk, Jazz Fusion, Jazz to Rock, Pop and world music. You can find out more about the individual members below.

Toppa G

Toppa G - Lead Vocals

Andrew McGregor is one of the main singer/songwriters in the band and possesses many skills, e.g. Organisation, Managerial and Social skills.  He has been the backbone of Abelwell Foundation’s achievements to date, acting as Manager, Agent and Producer.

He also instigated the Abelwell Web and Myspace sites, together with the artwork for their debut and forthcoming albums.

Over the years he has brought different young talent into the band giving them the opportunity to perform on the big stage.

Andrew McGregor – aka “Toppa G” is very passionate about this and believes that music can have a positive and powerful impact on young people’s lives, as often all they need is the encouragement and opportunity to express themselves for which Abelwell can be their outlet.

Peter Vibe

Peter Vibe - Lead Vocals

Peter Vibe is a singer /song writer who is a member of the Abelwell Foundation band. He is one of the original founding members and has been performing with them for the last 15 years. He has a very unique writing style which produces melodic and poetic songs which have a truthful and down to earth appeal. His music resonates with the audiences to whom he performs and together with Toppa G, creates a distinctive sound that is unmistakably Abelwell’s own.

He has worked with reputable musicians and producers that recognize his ability to make music that does not follow the conventions of the industry. “Talented”, is how some may describe him, but he tends to use the description “gifted”, as he believes that the ability to put down in music the things that concern us in life, is a gift and is not to be taken for granted. The common denominator in Abelwell repertoire is “LOVE” as this is the connection that strengthens the bond we have with each other. Peter Vibe is undoubtedly one of the main driving forces within Abelwell and has great potential to define the emotional heart of a song through his beautifully constructed lyrical content.

Deiko - Guitar

David Parry aka “Deiko” pronounced ‘Deeko’, functions as the lead and rhythm guitarist in Abelwell.
Picked up the guitar in 1973 in my senior school days. Being a self taught guitarist,  most of my listening and learning was in the 70’s and 80’s period, which has helped develop my guitar playing and music writing to a certain degree.
My expressions on reggae lends its self to a more progressive stance and have collaborated a great deal with other similar styled musicians.
I’ve passed through various bands and did various recordings with other musicians from 1975 to present..
A spell of 12 years of not playing was broken when I met up with an old bredrin’ ‘Skipa Rankin’ (Tee-Drummer). Skipa coaxed me to join the Ska/Rocksteady band ‘Top Rankin’ (8-piece line-up) in 2003 from its initial formation and through the workings of the band had also a strong musical connection with ‘Vinniepee (Vince –Keyboardist). We all helped each other out on our own music projects and whatever else happened outside of that has led me to Abelwell. Bless!

Farda Fitz

Farda Fitz - Bass

His playing underpins much of the foundation of Abelwell Foundation’s sound today. His own style traverses Hip Hop, Jazz and Roots Reggae.

From the Midlands in the UK, he began making music at the age of thirteen. Firmly influenced by his parent’s Caribbean background, music has always played a major part of his life. From childhood he was always tapping out rhythm patterns on table tops with his grandmother, singing old folk songs with his mother, listening to the rhythm and bass of his dads blue beat collection.
He actually started out in music playing the drums but at twelve he picked up a lead guitar for the first time but soon after realized the tone and style really was not for him. He soon discovered the Bass Guitar and fell in love with it. Pushed by a dear friend Dread Lester he formed a band called “Intersound” - playing reggae, at the same time as another Midlands phenomenon, Musical Youth and today Fitz sometimes can be seen playing double bass in jazz bands lead by the lead singer Dennis Seaton. During his early teens he was exposed to the possibilities of jazz/funk bass playing through a close friend Ian Reid (now part of world legend Ronnie Jordan's band). He was further converted by hearing the virtuosity of Marcus Miller, Level 42's Mark King and Stanley Clarke.
Fitz now has his dream set of pro bass instruments and equipment including the double bass, six string frettless and acoustic bass.

Over the years Fitz has been in many bands and played with many top musicians such as such as Mobo award winner Soweto Kinch, with the Live Box Band, and Andy Hamilton and The Blue Notes. He has also played with Jazz legend's like Roy Ayers, Wyntom Maarsalis, David Murray, Jean Touussaint, Sonny Bradshaw, Scott Hamilton, Owen Grey, Rankin Rodger (The Beat) and King of today's dance music Louie Vega to name a few.
He see's his playing as a life long journey and feels he still has much more to discover but he is so glad to be playing the music of his roots with Abelwell Foundation.
"Jah Bless" Farda Fitz
